What is the St. David's Wellness Center at St. David’s Medical Center?

The St. David's Wellness Center is a convenient care center dedicated to providing quality healthcare services to St. David’s HealthCare employees and their dependents and to member employers.

What forms of identification or other information should I or my dependent bring to an appointment at the Wellness Center?

To ensure a speedy check-in, employees should present their social security number, photo ID and/or employee ID badge, and their insurance card if they are on the company insurance.

If dependents are eligible for services at the health center, they should be prepared to present the guarantor’s social security number and employee ID number (if applicable), a photo ID, insurance card if they are on the company insurance, and their social security number. (Note: A guarantor is covered by their employer’s health insurance plan, and has provided coverage to the patient by including him/her as a dependent on the health plan.)

Where is the HealthCenter located?

The St. David's Wellness Center at St. David’s Medical Center is conveniently located in the Plaza Medical Office Building, Suite 411, on the St. David’s Medical Center campus.

What kind of treatment can the St. David's Wellness Center at St. David’s Medical Center provide?

The St. David's Wellness Center can handle nearly all of your routine illness and health needs. They can diagnose and treat minor medical problems (such as allergies, ear infections, strep throat, flu, minor infections and rashes), write prescriptions, give vaccinations, check blood pressure, provide pregnancy tests and more.

Who can use the St. David's Wellness Center at St. David’s Medical Center?

The St. David's Wellness Center is available for the benefit of eligible employees of St. David’s HealthCare and member companies. All benefit-eligible employees and their dependents may use the St. David's Wellness Center with the exception of children under the age of two or those employees or dependents who are currently covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

How much does the St. David's Wellness Center Cost?

There is no charge for benefit-eligible employees and dependents of St. David’s HealthCare who are enrolled in the HCA-sponsored health insurance plan or member employers. Non-benefit-eligible employees may access the services of the HealthCenter for a flat fee rate of $75.

Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are preferred, by calling (512) 544-0278.

What are the hours of operation for the St. David's Wellness Center?

The St. David's Wellness Center hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. The St. David's Wellness Center is closed every day from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for lunch.

Can I trust that my personal health information stays private?

Yes. To protect your privacy, the St. David's Wellness Center adheres to stringent federal privacy laws just like any doctor’s office or hospital, and ensures that all personal information remains completely confidential. Your individual health information and medical records will not be shared with St. David’s Medical Center, St. David’s HealthCare or anyone else without your written consent.

A medical record must be kept to ensure that your health needs are managed correctly over time. But this record will be kept strictly confidential in compliance with HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act). HIPAA prohibits us from releasing any medical information about you to anyone without your written consent.

Can I go to the St. David's Wellness Center if I need help with diabetes, high cholesterol, or other chronic conditions?

Yes. In addition to treating common illnesses and injuries, the nurse practitioner can help you treat and monitor chronic problems such as diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol, or other health conditions.

How can I be assured that the medical care I receive at the St. David's Wellness Center is of the highest quality?

When you visit the St. David's Wellness Center with a health concern, you will be treated by a qualified healthcare provider (nurse practitioner) who has advanced training in diagnosing and treating illnesses.

Will I be able to get a prescription at the St. David's Wellness Center?

Yes. If deemed necessary, the healthcare provider will be able to provide you with a prescription, or may e-prescribe to your preferred pharmacy.

What if I already have an existing primary care provider?

The HealthCenter is offered as an optional benefit, in addition to the care you can receive from your primary care physician (PCP). If you visit the St. David's Wellness Center, the staff will work directly with your primary care provider so that he/she is informed of the care you receive at the St. David's Wellness Center.

What if I need to see a specialist for my health problem?

If you need more advanced care or testing, the St. David's Wellness Center staff will help you arrange additional services using specialists and other providers in your health plan.

What medical facility can I go to if additional care is needed?

You can use any medical facility or doctor in your insurance network.
